There couldn’t have been a better way to end our trip that included Italy, France, The Netherlands, Belgium and finally, Spain, than spending it here in Madrid and doing a quick day trip to Toledo. Still on a high after being in some of the most celebrated cities in the world, Madrid’s charm for us did not come from its history, culture, food or art. What was most memorable was we could actually see ourselves living here.
Exploring its streets, seeing parents pick up their kids from school, comparing general cost of our basic needs, figuring out what other Spanish cities and countries in Europe are easily accessible from here, enjoying its weather… those were our highlights and we loved it.

From Madrid, it’s really easy to visit Toledo known as the “City of Three Cultures” because of the beautiful influences of Christians, Muslims and Jews in its city.

For this trip, we weren’t too engrossed in reading up which artist designed its stunning cathedrals, or what this masterpiece meant for the entire country. Instead we just breathed everything in and imagined what our lives would look like in this beautiful city.
We didn’t feel like tourists. We felt at home. Adiós por ahora, Madrid. We shall return.
