When we travelled to Seville, it was not yet voted top city to visit in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2018. Even without this honor, we went out of our way for her. We loved her first.
Loved the Alcazar.
The Alcazar was the main reason why we wanted to see Seville. It was used as a filming location for Game of Thrones, particularly as the Water Gardens that served as the private residence to House Martell, the rulers of Dorne and one of the Great Houses of Westeros.
It was only when we visited this architectural wonder that we got to connect the dots! Alcazar, first built by the Moor Dynasty, must’ve come from the Arabic word, Al Qasr which means palace. When the Christians regained power, the King ordered to build his castle around this site and extensions have been added by rulers who succeeded.

Loved Plaza de Espana.
Plaza de Espana was originally constructed for the Ibero-American World Fair Expo in 1929. Every participating nation had a structure to represent it and Plaza de Espana was the Spanish site. It was considered the most impressive then and even for us today, this ranks as one of Europe’s grandest public squares.

Loved the Catedral de Sevilla and Giralda Tower.
The Seville Cathedral is the third largest church in the world and the largest Gothic church. Giralda serves as its bell tower.
Loved its dining scene.
As if the sites were not enough, we also enjoyed food in Seville primarily because of Michelin recommended restaurant, Casa la Viuda.
Loved every bit of it.
Make sure to also check out the following, but know that even by wandering, you’ll find effortless splendor in Seville.
Metropol Parasol, the largest wooden structure in the world, is a finalist in the 2013 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.
Casa de Pilatos is considered one of the first examples of Andalusian architecture in Seville.
Barrio de Santa Cruz is a neighborhood worth exploring.
We didn’t have enough time but if you can, also visit Parque Maria Luisa.
Our skills are always limited and our devices never sufficient so these photos don’t do justice. You have to see Seville yourself and when you do, we’re confident you’ll love her too.
