No spoilers (we think)… Just quick thoughts on the movies we’ve seen this 2017.

Logan

Rating:
9 / 10

Tricia says:
“Mad respect for Hugh Jackman who played Wolverine for 17 years! Must watch!”

Tim says:
“Best Wolverine movie ever… dark and bloody as it should’ve always been.”

Allied

Rating:
8 / 10

Tricia says:
“There’s undeniable chemistry between Pitt and Cotillard that added charm to this movie but the final airport scene was predictable.”

Tim says:
“The set and the characters are too clean for a war period piece.”

Underworld: Blood Wars

Rating:
6.5 / 10

Tricia says:
“Plot is a bit all over the shop but I love Kate Beckinsale (and the fact that she stars as a vampire in an action movie at her age) so we’re more forgiving.”

Tim says:
“Kate Beckinsale’s lip job is too irritating.”

John Wick 2

Rating:
8.5 / 10

Tricia says:
“Story is meatier and action is more insane than first movie.”

Tim says:
“Hard to beat the first one but this is a worthy sequel packed with intense action from the start.”

Arrival

Rating:
5 / 10

Tricia says:
“There’s intelligent sci-fi that challenges your brain to expand beyond what it can understand or imagine, but this is NOT one of them.”

Tim says:
“Give me back my two hours! I get the attempt to be like Interstellar but it didn’t work for me.”

Beauty and the Beast

Rating:
8 / 10

Tricia says:
“Great movie overall but for a remake, I felt it lacked the oomph.”

Tim says:
“Decent live action interpretation. Could’ve chosen a better-looking actor to play Beast.”

Life

Rating:
8 / 10

Tricia says:
“Literally gripping but tell me, are these the best earthlings we have for this mission?”

Tim says:
“Everything about this movie is smart except its characters.”

Kong

Rating:
8.5 / 10

Tricia says:
“Showed a little bit of Tom Hiddleston and a lot of Kong… guess that’s okay?”

Tim says:
“Surprisingly good for another giant monkey movie. Not sure about the post-credits though.”

Sing

Rating:
7.5 / 10

Tricia says:
“Left a good warm feeling but for a film called Sing, no song or performance stood out for me.”

Tim says:
“Appreciated the movie more when I found out that the actors could actually sing.”

The Founder

Rating:
8 / 10

Tricia says:
“Michael Keaton succeeded in annoying me so I do have plans of boycotting McDonald’s. Good bye, fries!”

Tim says:
“Effective acting by Michael Keaton. Always very interesting and entertaining to see the beginnings of huge brands.”

Lion

Rating:
7.5 / 10

Tricia says:
“Uneccesarily long but still a touching movie.”

Tim says:
“The striking details of this film made me feel as lost as the lead character during his search for home.”

Split

Rating:
8 / 10

Tricia says:
“James McAvoy’s acting is so powerful and his character is so disturbing. Curious to see how his and David Dunn’s worlds will cross.”

Tim says:
“James McAvoy blows you away with his acting versatility but the story does not impress too much even with the twist in the end.”
